God is a Missionary God

John 3:16 and 17 say:

"God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world but that the world might be saved through Him."

When you and I were sinners, we were basically enemies of God. We did not have any right or lasting privilege to have a relationship with God or His Son Jesus. But, God loves so much He chose not to condemn us outright. Instead, God prepared a remedy for our sin by sending Jesus His Son to pay the penalty for our sins and provide a way that we might have an eternal relationship with Him.

This means that God did not sit back and wait for us to become perfect but stooped down from his throne to help us find the way back to him. Because God took the initiaitive to restore his relationship with us we call him a "Missionary God."

As the Lord Almighty of Heaven and Earth came to us, so he wants all Christians to go into the world to share His great message of love, redemption and reconciliation with others from every ethnic tribe and nation on earth.

Jesus called every Christian to be His Ambassadors to the World

In Matthew 28:18-20 Jesus said:

"All authority in heaven and on earth hasbeen given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the end of the age."

In Acts 1:8 Jesus tells his disciples:

"... you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in [your neighborhood, your home town, throughout your country] and to the the ends of the earth."

Go!

By Henry Blackaby, Experiencing God Day by Day Devotional

“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the capital Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.”
Our Master commands us to “go.” Matthew 28: 19

We need permission to stay! The gospel is the account of Jesus’ leaving his father’s right that goes to Calvary. Jesus instructed those who wanted to be his disciples to leave their homes in a conference and follow him. Some insisted that they could not go there because they still have to care for elderly parents. Others wanted to make sure everything was in order for us. Still others expressed willingness to follow what it wanted to know the details of what they would be doing. Jesus never excuses those who struggled to follow him. He made it clear that to follow him meant he set the direction and they were to follow.

We can convince ourselves that Jesus does not really want us to adjust our lives, pointing to the success we are enjoying right where we are. Jesus often told his disciples to go elsewhere in spite of the success they were experiencing. Peter had just pull in the greatest catch a fish of his entire career when Jesus invited him to leave everything. Fellow was enjoying astounding success as an evangelist when the Holy Spirit instructed him to go to the desert. Success where we are can be our greatest hindrance to going where Jesus wants us to be.

If you become too comfortable where you are, you may resist Christ’s invitation and go elsewhere. Don’t assume that god does not want you to go and service to him. He may leave you across the street to share the gospel with your neighbor or to the other side of the world. Wherever he leads, be prepared to go.
